"I would highly recommend Flintshire. My whole experience has been great from the beginning. Every single person has been really friendly and eager to help me learn. I've not felt like the 'new girl' asking questions. Management have been available. It's always been fair, I can take my time back if I work extra" Student
"I can't fault Flintshire as a local authority. We have amazing support. We also have a support group and whatsapp group with other newly qualified staff and it's good to know someone is the same as you. Training has been great. Having a a mentor in the team has been a massive help, you feel comfortable to ask the tiny stupid questions, not bothering seniors who have other things to do." Newly qualified social worker

What does the role involve?

What is connected persons?
Connected Persons, also known as Kinship care or Family and friend carers, come from all walks of life. You will be supporting brothers caring for sisters, uncles, grandads and aunties. They have often come into fostering at a crisis point in their wider family. They have not come into fostering with the same perspective or decided to be a foster carer. You will build good relationships with all your carers and all the different teams and professionals involved with the family. By introducing carers to other local families in a similar situation, you will help to make sure they don't feel on their own.
